Name:
Jessie Terwilliger
Lovelorn Poets Featured Message:
Missed Connection in Brooklyn, NY: Junk Thrift Store
Work:
I run a small photography business in Southern California called Terwilliger Photo.
Where to Find You:
terwilligerphoto.com
terwilligerphoto.blogspot.com
flickr.com/photos/terwilliger911
Duration:
Terwilliger Photo has been around since 2007.
Education:
Life, etc.
Influences:
I really have none, unless you were to count my situational influence of lack of vision in my left eye, which probably gives me a bit of a unique view.
Preferred Work Environment:
For art shoots I like old run down buildings, tunnels full of ever changing graffiti, junk yards, and cemeteries. Otherwise when I do family portraits and the like I prefer meadows, the mountains, and the great outdoors in general.
Philosophy:
Relax. Have fun.

I think your Saturday Special is a great idea! It’s good to see who’s behind the lens of some of the great images you use, and getting a little background of the artist, you can appreciate the character in these images.
Why did you pick this photographer to use in LLP? What is it about her work that identifies with you (or the writing you link it to)?
The photos and music you add to the selections is a real attraction to your site–how do you put them together? Do the photographers/artists always agree with your association?
Hi Victos, Thanks for writing! Glad to hear you like the Saturday Special idea – we’re hoping to run it once or twice a month as a supplement to our regular publishing of missed connections. All of the images used on Lovelorn Poets are from artists utilizing the Creative Commons (CC) licensing feature available through Flickr. CC affords artists a simple way to publicize and distribute their work – most of the pieces selected are CC Attribution license, meaning that we give credit to the artist, provide a link to the original piece, and let the artist know. CC is a real god-send for a small blogging operation like Lovelorn Poets as paying to license artwork would be extremely expensive. A few weeks back a message was sent to all the artists whose work has appeared on this site asking them if they were interested in participating in this feature – and Jessie is one who stepped forward.
It’s a great idea, and the Saturday Special seems like a good opportunity for an artist to introduce themselves to a new audience. I’d be surprised if your invite didn’t get an overwhelming response–I know I’ve looked at a lot of their stuff based on the LLP connection. I admit, though, that I go to their sites often because of the mix of their work and the writing that went with it–do you ever use the same artist for multiple entries? Is it always for similar mood/style? Do they ever comment/reply to you? I look forward to seeing others in the weeks to come. Thanks!
