like yesterday’s sand castles
and day in the sun.
The sand castles can wash away in the next high tide, but sun burned skin lasts for days.
Holiday weekends are opportunities to rest, or stress depending on your situation, right? I rested, and cooked outside, and had soft ice cream, and got a lot of sun.
Except for food and day off from work, I really don’t care about any of the big holidays. But they sometimes stand as milestones to measure stages of our lives from year to year. I am in a far place from last July, and so very far from the year before.
I also tried to slow down and listen to my “inner voice” too.
(NOT the one in my head that keeps chanting, ‘drive faster..drive faster’.)
It reminded me to go slow and walk softly. To clean up after myself, and not to leave my hopes and dreams behind me, but follow them instead.
Missed Connections are filled with good, bad, and slowly-disappearing-haiku. Did you write one? Did you find one? Before you go out to sea with the next high tide, email the link to Lovelorn Poets. We’ll preserve those sun-and-sand syllables for all eternity.
