forget all about meaning
when parking gets tough.
You can forget about holiday cheer
and all that ‘happy’ and ‘merry’ stuff too.
When it’s dark and rainy and the lot is full
and people are circling slowly like vultures,
the power of entitlement takes hold
and a culture of “me next” becomes contagious.
I am not exempt from it either,
cursing the driver who beats me to the space I thought was mine.
It seems like everyone is rushing to the exact same place:
A two-hour wait at the Apple store.
Missed Connections are filled with good, bad and holiday-shopping-haiku. Did you write one? Did you find one? Before you venture out into the insanity of Black Friday, email the link to Lovelorn Poets. We’ll preserve those cursing-and-circling syllables for all eternity.
