Missed Connections in Manhattan

Winter Light NYC

quiet streets
walking my dog
neighbors nodding “good morning”
newspapers on the stoop
xmas trees on the curb
coffee brewing
sun breaking through
cascading between buildings
perfect winter air
crisp and inviting
the day awaits you
all the promise
make it happen

While New York City is a place of vibrant colors, lights, and never-ending brightness (a trip to Times Square illustrates this perfectly in surreal brilliance) it’s also a city with a beautiful black and white quality. Early morning winter streets are rich with shades of gray and for a brief moment, a city and its people slow its frenzied pace and take a breath in preparation for the long run ahead.

LOST

In the store behind me, I was struck by your pheromones.
And I think you are cuter than a young Davy Jones.

You carried out 2 big bags of dog food, like it was a feather…..
I wanted to talk you up, but all I could think of was ‘how’s the weather’.

I was parked on your left, standing. Around my confidence, a ginormous vice.
If I could get another chance, that would be really nice!!

You, me, our furry friends, park, frisbee, run?… then meat and treats? I think that would be fun!!

It’s been a long time since I’ve found a good Walkin’ the Dog missed connections message, and this cute little rhyming poem is the perfect light and fluffy antidote for an otherwise gray rainy day. Perhaps our poet’s dog should be enlisted to put up a few “Lost” signs as well. :-)

I was tired & panting, with hotness I was immersed
You invited me in, extinguished my thirst

Thanks for the water and the pats,
You made my day!
If i’m up that way again, I’ll bring y’all liver souffle !!!

Sincerely,
Dutchie the Daring Dog
with my Frisbee»

Lovelorn Poets her two cents iconHer Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
It took me a moment to realize this was a message about a dog (it was the reference to “pats” that gave it away). I love finding unique little notes like this one – they’re cute and amusing and a pleasant break from love and longing. Imagine if all we needed to be happy was a drink of water on a hot day and a few scratches behind the ears… wouldn’t life be so simple?

Missed Connections in Ithaca, NY: I Got Your Dog’s Name, but Not Yours

Missed Connections in Ithaca, NY

OK, let me back in. by Ordinary Guy

I Got Your Dog’s Name, but Not Yours
Missed Connections in Ithaca

I was just starting my walk, and you were just finishing yours.
The sun was bright on the snow, and your dog ran up to me.
He was still energetic from your walk, and we talked about how nice it is to have an eager dog to encourage you to go out and exercise.
We chatted for a few minutes but somehow I only got your dog’s name, and not yours!
What a shame — I would love to have coffee with you some time.

Lovelorn Poets her two cents iconIt’s been a good while since we had a While Walkin’ the Dog missed connection, and this one has such a cute photo to go along with it. Lesson to remember for the weekend? Getting the dog’s name is good, but the person’s name is even better and it’s not all that difficult to do. Simply offer your name first. :-)

Would love to see you both again.

Lovelorn Poets her two cents iconThis is why I luv the Lovelorn Poet’s Music Guru – his musical missed connection match-ups either send me to a song I haven’t thought of in years or in this case, I band I’ve never even heard of! Gotta love the name of this one… The Bubble Puppy. :-)
