The Snow Makes Me Miss You
Missed Connections in Boise

The snow makes me miss you.
I have visions of you playing in it
and I can hear your laughter.
Hope you happy and think of you often.
Do you think of me?
I hope so.
I hope your scarf keeps you warm still. ;)

Her Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
Boise, Idaho is our featured location today and this message reminded me that some places actually had snow and cold weather this winter! While I love the unseasonably warm, sunny temperatures that have descended upon New York early this year, it is a bit strange and uncharacteristic. Which leads me to wonder if some sort of freak blizzard will hit in April… Coat, scarf, boots, and hat are still on stand-by just in case Mother Nature pulls an about-face.

I Dream of You

I Dream of You
Missed Connections in Boise

I dream of you when I’m sleeping.
I dream of you when I’m awake.
I dream of sharing that tub of movie popcorn with you.
I dream of holding your hand, kissing in the dark and watching the fireworks.
I dream about french fries.
I dream about pancakes.
29 days and counting.

I love our poem of the day’s list of simple pleasures – french fries, pancakes, watching fireworks… The best dreams aren’t necessarily the ones with grand, ornate plans and schemes but about the small, enjoyable events that can happen on any day, at any time. Take a moment and think about your dreams – what are you hoping to have come true?

I Spat Out My Car Window
Missed Connections in Boise

I stopped at the light on Linder and Ustick, and spat out of my driver’s side window.
Then I looked up and saw one of the most beautiful girls I’ve ever seen.
Our eyes met quite awkwardly.
You looked away, clearly embarrassed.
Palming my face, I laughed out loud and drove off.

Every once in a while you see someone in another car and you want to talk to them.
Today it was this hilarious thing,
because it made me realize how futile and ridiculous an idea that is.
But at the same time it felt like this time was special…somehow.

It’s probably too weird for you,
and you have likely not even checked here,
trying to put the incident out of your mind.
But in case you were wondering, it made my day.

This is not how I generally meet girls, by the way.

Today we’re featuring three messages from the Boise, Idaho feed. There’s quite a bit of activity on this forum and it’s relatively easy to find a few interesting messages – like this one by our lovelorn loogie-hocker. Nothing like an ode to the joys of feeling embarrassed and stoopid…. If we look on the bright side, some folks, like Weird Al for example, have had great success doing stoopid and embarrassing things. So maybe the beautiful girl found you funny and entertaining? Or maybe not.

Missed Connections in Boise, ID: Where in the World are You?

Pulp Fiction - by Mark Coggins

Where in the World are You?
Missed Connections in Boise

I know we both make a living out of hiding from people, but we’ve been hiding from each other for too long.
I need someone who understands what it’s like to constantly be on the run.
One can only run for so long.
So I must ask this important question: where in the world are you, Carmen Sandiego?
Let’s meet for coffee or lunch or bowling or something.
Reply with picture so I know it’s you.
Yours truly,
Waldo

Lovelorn Poets her-two-cents-iconFor every person making a living out of hiding there’s another earning their keep with search and recover. This begs the question: Would Carmen Sandiego lose her cool over a) Sam Spade, b) Phillip Marlowe, c) Perry Mason, or d) None of the Above? Carmen might be in Boise now, but she’s a mover and a shaker with a killer sense of geography. Even if Waldo was hiding out in Ittoqqortoormiit, she’d know how to get there. Would you?  As an aside, must investigate this Mark Coggins book I discovered on Flickr Creative Commons – nothing like a little old-school gumshoe-ing and a tumbler of Maker’s Mark to keep you company on a cold winter’s night…

Know that I could be entirely mistaken on this. But if I’m not, it’s an uncanny and generally pretty neat coincidence.

Anyway, on Saturday night as I was walking down Idaho St. (towards 8th), you walked past me and smiled to me. You were carrying a rather large pizza box and had blondish hair.

Then tonight (Sunday) I received at the Boise Co-op a second unexpected smile from a stranger who looked quite similar to the person from Saturday. Medium height, blondish hair, similar physiognomy.

I’m not accustomed to exchanging a hello or a smile with a stranger, so I hadn’t a chance to return it before you had vanished.

Anyway, if you are in fact one person, do you know me from somewhere? And if not, well, thanks for the smile :)

NOTE FROM THE MISSED CONNECTIONS CHIEF BOTTLE FINDER:

This is our very first missed connection from Boise, Idaho! That feed doesn’t get a huge amount of activity but I did like the serendipitous nature of this message – and the song and video from the Go-Betweens is simply beautiful. No, no one wants to change thing when there’s magic.
