I don’t know that I CARE ABOUT YOU.
I care about us and how you’re moving on and it’s just isolating.
So here I am…
and I’ve had moments when I saw you crying…I don’t think I am amazed that this is what I did that shit all the times when I heard that i didn’t want you to feel alone on my emotions and the guys in the drama of though for what it is that time.
except of course they’re right now.
I just got back.

The Jersey Shore missed connections feed manages to spit out randomly weird gems on a regular basis and this one caught my eye because it was simultaneously familiar and discordant. At first, I thought the lines or words were jumbled like a puzzle and that by moving them around the true meaning could be unlocked (playing around with that achieved some interesting but not completely satisfying results). Then I considered that our poet could be pulling phrases from other messages in some sort of a predetermined, algorithmic manner (which could explain some of the rough segues). Of course, there’s always the possibility that it’s another example of P.U.I. (poets under the influence). Your guess is as good as mine.

Thinking Of You
Missed Connections from Jersey Shore

Sitting on the beach in bayhead thinking about the way life could have been …
thinking about the times we had and how I let things end …
wishing I had one more day to roll in the sand …
I would give up everything to walk and hold your hand ..

Today we’re featuring three message from the Jersey Shore. It’s one of my favorite feeds for its mix of crazy randomness (UFO sightings and unicorns), road rage (hello mind-numbing traffic!) and ocean-side romances great and small. The personality of the Jersey Shore has become a bit of an extreme caricature over the years but the people who write to this forum are quite a bit more than that.

Twenty Shades of Gray

Twenty Shades of Gray
Missed Connections from Jersey Shore

when you look at me I blush
your shades of color
make me flush

I linger there and try to see
but I can’t tell
you’re staring at me

fearless and fragile all the same
there’s something about it
when you call my name

blues and greens and sometimes gray
touch me so deeply
I can only pray

but one quick glance and I can see
those amazing green eyes
loving me

Not every message from the Jersey Shore feed is a wacky one – in fact, every once in awhile something thoughtful, heartfelt, and original appears. Our poem of the day is a good example of that. Just goes to show that stereotypes are only applicable to a certain percentage of the population.

You stopped me for not wearing a seatbelt.
Before you got out of your car, I did put the seatbelt on.
When you approached me ,you ask me if I just put my seatbelt on, and I said no.
You said don’t lie to you, I eventually said yes.
Thank you for not giving me a ticket, you are awesome.
I would like to give you a kiss.

For those of you who follow my missed connections musings, you know that the Jersey Shore feed is a pretty “special” place. In fact, I thought it was so entertaining that it was my very first featured location spotlight back in January of 2011. Since that time I’ve featured almost every feed I follow and now we’ve come full circle back to the start  – and this couldn’t be the more perfect message to begin with. Adding tips to the list of How Not to Get Stopped by the Police? Wear your seatbelt. And if you forget, lie, and offer kisses. That’s the Jersey Shore way!

Was wondering how that worked out?
Did you ever get the car started?
I was going to give you my number and tell you to keep me posted,
but when I turned my car around I realized the trucks diver window was closed.
You seem to be fun girls, we should hang out some time.
oh yeah, nice mustang

Lovelorn Poets her two cents iconWhere we would be if we didn’t have Jersey Shore missed connections? Unicorn sightings, getting married at Caesar’s Palace, sexy road rage, spaceships, frog hunters – their missed connections feed is a veritable cornucopia of crazy. Stereotypes are never absolutely true (I’m sure there are plenty of ordinary, average humans living in the Jersey Shore area who do not hallucinate on a regular basis), but they do exist for a reason…
