Missed Connections on Long Island, NY: Didn’t Want To Ask

Missed Connections on Long Island, NY

Didn’t Want To Ask
Missed Connections from Long Island

years of saying we were soul mates ~ why didn’t you choose me?
stop the bell from ticking twelve ~ or we can’t be!

Lovelorn Poets her two cents iconHer Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
Even though this short message from Long Island is a simple rhyme, I was taken in by the image of the tolling bell. Part fairy-tale, part death knell reminder that time is growing short (at least from our poet’s perspective). Could it be that the years of soul-mated-ness are a contributing factor? Some  answers we will never have…

You make my coffee
You make my dreams

You make me a latte
It taste supreme

You never make me a frap.
Thinking about you makes me fap.

The best days are the days you’re working….

Is Hampton Bays near the Walt Whitman Shopping Mall? Perhaps it’s the spirit of Mr. Whitman that prompted this poetic attempt from our Long Island coffee drinker. Dear poet, let’s hope this barista finds you at least moderately attractive – divulging what you might be doing in the restroom is just a bit TMI.

Bright Color Lights
Missed Connections in Long Island

stinging ashtrays
panorama over the canyon and canon (lanterns)
suave mink fights
and Julio, ghoulish in flight (deck)

pink muffin clouds
and a space for your mats
pine needle fax machine corpse
touching my face (with hats)

keep your self acool
your mom left Lunchables at school
two old ladies without a fight
and another to the moon, you loon

I can’t really tell what this poem from Long Island is all about but I like the rhyming and word choices – “suave mink fights” brings all sorts of images to mind and “keep your self acool” could make for a unique closing line in a message… Jackie Sutherland’s photo reminds me of candy dots (a.k.a. colored circles of sugar on paper) and that sort of confectionery seems right at home here.
